FAQ
Are the pesticides used by homeowners and professionals for lawn care safe?
Any pesticide that you or a professional uses will have some risk. After all, when you get down to it, they kill or drive away the unwanted pests from the areas treated. As the homeowner or professional, proper precautions should always be followed.
Are the pesticides used by professionals of higher risk than those available to homeowners?
Generally the regularly used pesticides by most professionals for landscaping and lawn care are the same as products available for homeowners to use on their own. A few professionals with the proper licenses may use products that are not available to the general public. You should always ask your lawn service provider if any of these pesticides are going to be used on your property.
Are there any precautions I should take for minimal risk to myself, my family and our pets?
Yes, and it is usually very simple, don't use too often, read and follow ALL the directions of the product manufacturer, and wash your exposed areas thoroughly after use with soap and warm water. Also, you should keep the unused products safely and away from those people and animals you do not want the products to come in contact with.
Immediately after application, the treated areas of the lawn should be kept free of pets and people, if possible until the area dries or for 24 hours if you are uncertain. If the directions say something different, please follow the manufacturer's directions.
